iMoneyBook Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 7, 2026

iMoneyBook is an expense and income tracker for iPhone, provided by Hai Chang. No separate iMoneyBook account is required.

Your records and images

Amounts, currencies, dates, categories, notes, tags, accounts, pending charges, refunds, reimbursement details, recurring rules and imported records are stored on your device. If you save a bill with a screenshot or receipt photo, a resized copy is retained with that bill. Unsaved screenshot review is temporary and is not a background inbox. CSV exports contain financial records and attachment metadata, not the image files.

iCloud and sharing

When iCloud is available, iMoneyBook uses Apple's CloudKit to synchronize records in your iCloud account. Records and bill images you explicitly share may be viewed or edited by the people you invite, according to the sharing permissions you select. iMoneyBook does not operate a separate server that receives your ledger or bank login credentials. Apple processes iCloud data under its own privacy terms.

Screenshot recognition and the optional model

Apple Vision recognizes text on your device. Without the optional model, local rules organize the recognized text. With verified model resources installed, the app also runs a local Qwen language model to help select bill fields and categories from your ledger. Screenshots, recognized text, transaction history and category names are not sent to an AI API. Review and correct suggestions before saving.

The optional model in new app versions is downloaded directly over HTTPS from Hugging Face and its download infrastructure. Earlier versions download from imoneybook-models.changhai.me, hosted by Cloudflare R2. Automatic download uses Wi-Fi and can be disabled in the offline-model settings. These providers receive network request information, such as your IP address and requested resource, to deliver the files. They may retain request and security logs to deliver and protect their services under their own privacy terms. The requests do not contain bill text, images, transaction history or category names. iMoneyBook does not use these requests for advertising or link them to your ledger. Installed resources are excluded from iCloud backup and normally survive an app update. Previously installed, verified models are reused when upgrading to the public download source. You can remove them in Settings.

Permissions and speech

Photos and camera access are used when you choose an image or take a receipt photo. Microphone and speech recognition permission are requested for voice entry. Apple's Speech service may process audio on Apple servers depending on the device, language and system availability. iMoneyBook does not send audio to a separate AI provider. You can revoke permissions in iOS Settings.

Other network services

Currency conversion retrieves public exchange rates from Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev). The service receives requested currency pairs and ordinary connection information, not your bill amounts, merchant names or ledger contents. Opening a shared shortcut uses Apple's iCloud Shortcuts website. This support website is hosted by Cloudflare.

Advertising, analytics and notifications

There are no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and no cross-app tracking. Reminders are scheduled locally with your permission. Apple may make platform diagnostics available according to the analytics-sharing choices you make in iOS or TestFlight.

Your choices

You can edit or delete records, remove saved bill photos, export records and manage sharing in the app. You can manage iCloud storage and app permissions in iOS Settings. Exported files and copies already shared with other people are under their recipients' control. Deleting the app removes its local data and downloaded model, but does not necessarily delete data stored in iCloud. Keep independent backups of important records.

Support and privacy requests

Email [email protected]. If you contact us, we receive the message and any information you choose to include, and use it to respond to your request. Please omit bank account numbers, passwords and private financial screenshots unless they are necessary for the issue. This policy may be updated when the app's behavior changes.
